Temple Thread Lift
The Temple Thread Lift (SMAS) is a minimally invasive technique used to lift and tighten sagging tissue in the face. This is a non-surgical alternative to the traditional surgical facelift for overall facial rejuvenation to produce natural looking and long lasting results. This procedure lifts the superficial top layers of the skin as well as SMAS tissue (Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System) which have lost laxity through the ageing process.
The Temple Thread Lift elevates the underlying structure of the face instead of simply lifting the skin. The technique is primarily performed to redefine sagging skin and muscles in the face in the more advanced stages of ageing. The result is extremely natural and improves overall skin rejuvenation.
What Is a Temple Thread Lift?
As we age, the skin, tissue, and muscles around the eyes, cheeks, jawline and neck weaken and the skin begins to sag. This results in an increased number of wrinkles and an appearance of sagging skin. The same effect can be seen in patients who have lost a considerable amount of weight where there is excess skin in the cheeks and jawline. The Temple Thread Lift is a non-surgical procedure which is designed to lift sagging facial skin without invasive surgery.
The Temple Thread Lift is a revolutionary procedure for patients wishing to define their facial contours without having to undergo surgery. The Temple Thread Lift is done using surgical threads that are placed in a specified pattern to tighten the loose skin around the temples, eyes and cheek area.
The technique has become a sought-after treatment for skin rejuvenation since it has a short recovery period and great results that are visible immediately and are sustained for a lengthily period of time. The Temple Thread Lift can be done in conjunction with other thread lift procedures, namely, the Trampoline Neck Lift and Silhouette Threads which results in an overall youthful appearance for the eyes, cheeks, jawline and neck. This technique produces natural looking and enduring results.
When Do We Advise Against It?
The Temple Thread Lift is to be done with some caution in those using any blood thinning medications. If you are pregnant or lactating please advise our doctor before undertaking any treatment we offer.
Patients who have excessively thin skin with a lack of fat tissue due to advanced ageing are advised against treatment. Our doctor at The Face and Body Place will be able to advise you as to your suitability as a candidate for this procedure.
What Is the Typical Course of Treatment?
After a detailed consultation and physical assessment, our doctor will advise if you are a suitable candidate. All the options will be established and a decision made to proceed with the treatment. Thereafter a booking will be made and a consultation will be held with our nurse to prepare you for the procedure.
The procedure is performed by a doctor. Light sedation is required and the treatment is relatively pain-free, taking around two hours to complete.
The doctor uses a suture technique, by placing a thread that acts as a hook, which is used to gather skin layers upward thereby tightening the skin. The thread is strategically placed to hold the skin in place, no skin is cut away and the thread and subsequent fibrous tissue provide the lifting effect.
You will be able to resume normal activities within ten to fourteen days following the completion of your procedure. Our doctor will advise you in consultation of the post-procedure guidelines which are critical to the success of the treatment
The Temple Thread Lift is typically a once off treatment and will last for a number of years. Our doctor may suggest a combination of treatments to further enhance your treatment results.
What Can You / Can’t You Expect from The Treatment?
Results are visible immediately after treatment giving you an instant lifting however due to swelling and bruising in the area the results will be best seen in the weeks following the procedure. For some patients, the full effects may take up to 1 month to see. Our doctor and nurse will guide you on what to expect post-treatment.
The effects of the Trampoline Neck Lift can last for a number of years however the results vary from patient to patient. The longevity of the results is dependent on factors such as age, the condition of the skin and area treated, overall health and lifestyle.
What Are The Unwanted Effects / Risks Of The Treatment?
It is important that you notify your specialist of all and any pre-existing medical conditions before treatment. As with any procedure, there is a certain amount of risk and it important that you understand the risks involved before deciding to undergo treatment. Although, the majority of patients do not experience these complications, always make sure that you discuss them with your Specialist beforehand.
We suggest you stop any blood thinning medication a few days before and after the procedure. The most common side effects are slight swelling and bruising, discomfort, and bleeding which will disappear within a few hours to days.
However, do not hesitate to contact your specialist should you have any other side effects as all skin injection procedures carry a risk of infection, even in the most stringently clean environments.
